Route to discover the courts of Monchio and the two branches of the Cedra stream, that of Valditacca and that of Trefiumi, trespassing at Rigoso in the Enza valley.
Itinerary that travels in several sections along the numerous penstocks of the valley’s hydroelectric plants now blurred in the undergrowth and ideal bicycle hiking trails.
Itinerary of medium technical difficulty (despite a few short uneven sections) and medium physical commitment.
From Monchio take provincial road 665R “massese” and start climbing in the direction of Trefiumi.
Having passed Trincera and now within sight of the village, leave the main road to climb to the right among the first houses following an ancient lane (Via Aostana) that leads to the village church, which you cross.
Having resumed the provincial road, continue to climb, deviating for the village of Rimagna and then reaching the junction for Prato Spilla, which you follow until the detour for the oratory of San Rocco, after which you descend to Rigoso in Val d’Enza.
From Rigoso you return going up immediately by cobblestones on the road to Prato Spilla from which you turn right passing through the village of Bastia after which you leave the road turning left going down among beech trees and fields.
Cross the provincial road again and continue off-road (section dug by water with loose stones, difficulty BC) downhill to a small chapel.
From here you climb back up to the provincial road at the hairpin bends before the village of Rimagna.
Cross the road and turn left onto a dirt road that passes by the sports field and then continues until fording the Cedra stream (crossable safely only in summer).
After crossing the stream, climb up a few meters by pushing until you join a cartroad that you follow to the left and then immediately to the right.
After a little more than a kilometer you join the road that descends from Lake Ballano towards Trefiumi.
You follow it downhill to an elevation of 996 m.
Where, at a curve to the left, you leave the road to turn right onto a path that leads back to the creek.
When you reach the creek there is a bridleway and penstock that you follow to the left, cross the road again and continue on cartroad making a wide turn upstream of Trefiumi skirting the road to Valditacca that you reach near the cemetery.
Continue on the road to the left until the next hairpin bend where you pick up the track in the woods that reconnects later with the same road.
Just a few meters and on the opposite side a path comes off that continues on the pipeline to the Cedra di Valditacca stream, which you will have to ford (safely crossable only in summer).
When you reach the opposite bank, go up into the village and reach near the church; continue on the main road to Pianadetto, which you also cross.
Leaving the village you leave the main road to turn left at the cemetery, cross the Cedrano stream continuing through the meadows to Trecoste from which you go back along the road to Monchio re-entering the village from the church and the central Via Brigata Julia.
